Catherine Violet Hubbard Animal Sanctuary

Newtown, CT

Together with one of the victim’s families of the Sandy Hook School tragedy, we are building an animal sanctuary in their daughter’s honor. This 34-acre property is planned to house the main sanctuary building and a small veterinary clinic. A covered colonnade with a central open gazebo will connect them both. These buildings overlook terraced butterfly gardens and the pasture beyond. We have also planned for Community Gardens, a farm animal barn with paddocks and a Learning Barn with an outdoor amphitheater with views of tree houses amidst the white pine forest. The Catherine Violet Hubbard Animal Sanctuary will reflect Catherine’s compassion for all creatures. It will provide adoptive care for companion animals, refuge for farm animals and native wildlife rescue and release services.
